4 dogs abandoned in Port St. Lucie; police search for who did it

Investigators in Port St. Lucie want to track down whoever abandoned four dogs along a wooded area on the northwest side of town.

On Thursday, the Port St. Lucie Police Department (PSLPD) released images of the two of the pups, who are now named Benji and Buttons, as well as the white SUV that reportedly left them behind.

The dogs were left to fend for themselves a little more than two weeks ago, PSLPD explained. The police department indicated they were abandoned around 6:30 p.m. on July 10 at a spot along Northwest FPL Drive, just west of the Northwest Peacock Boulevard and Northwest University Boulevard intersection.

After they were left all alone and the SUV drove off, the poor pooches could be seen on video chasing after the vehicle, police noted. And, while four dogs were dropped off, but the time help reached them, one of the pups had already died.

The other three dogs have been taken in by animal control.

Anyone with information about what happened or about the SUV is asked to call the police department at 772-871-5230. Anonymous tips can be made to Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 800-273-8477.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
