4 cats and a dog rescued from Westboro house fire

Westboro firefighters pulled a dog and four cats from a blaze that destroyed a family’s home early Sunday.

At about 12:54 a.m. Sunday, the Westboro Fire Department reported they responded to a report of a fire in a single-family house at 3 Fisher St.

Crews arrived to “heavy fire showing from the house,” the department said. All humans had made it out of the burning building, firefighters confirmed, but their animals were still in the home.

The responders located and pulled all four cats and one dog to safety, Westboro Fire said. No humans were injured in the fire.

The crews then “conducted an aggressive interior and exterior attack,” the department said, putting out most of the fire within 15 minutes. The firefighters remained at the home for about two hours.

The home was left “uninhabitable,” firefighters said. The blaze ripped through $500,000 worth of damage, according to department estimates.

The Red Cross is assisting the residents, Westboro Fire said, and Northborough, Southborough and Hopkinton Fire Departments provided mutual aid at the scene.

Preliminary evidence suggests the fire started in the area of the kitchen and dining room from a battery-operated device, the department said.

“I would like to commend our crews that made a quick entry into the house to save five animals,” Chief Purcell said. “They were then able to get the fire under control in a short period of time. This was a great effort by Westborough Fire and our mutual aid partners.”

The Westboro Fire Department’s investigation unit is actively investigating the incident.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
