36 dogs transported in rescue operation after owners seek help

HARDIN COUNTY, Tenn. — Hardin County Animal Services recently learned about a home in Nixon that had 25 to 30 dogs on the property.

The shelter is almost always at capacity and simply did not have any room for all of the dogs.

An independent rescuer who works with animal services contacted Animal Rescue Corps in Nashville. ARC protects dogs, cats, and other domestic animals across North America and beyond. They do this through large-scale emergency animal rescue, disaster response, shelter relief, education, and training.

Wednesday morning, ARC, along with multiple volunteers — nearly 20 people — came to the residence to rescue these dogs. The dogs were safely put into kennels so that they can be transported and taken care of.

This is another example of why spaying and neutering animals is incredibly important. Situations like this one can get out of hand quickly. It is incredibly difficult to take care of that many dogs in the correct manner.

If things do get out of hand, or are already out of hand, the owners of these dogs are a great example to follow. Call your local animal shelter and ask for help. They will certainly know what to do.

Animal Rescue Corps travel the entire country performing these rescues daily. To donate or volunteer to help these dogs and puppies, and other animals in need, visit animalrescuecorps.org. See the full press release on this situation below.

BREAKING NEWS: THE FUTURE FOR 36 DOGS RESCUED TODAY IN SAVANNAH TENNESSEE JUST GOT BRIGHTER THANKS TO ANIMAL RESCUE CORPS

Savannah, Tenn. – Animal Rescue Corps (ARC), a national animal protection nonprofit, responded to a request for assistance from the Hardin County Animal Shelter today, rescuing 36 dogs roaming loose on a property in Savannah, Tennessee.

The population of dogs rapidly increased over the past few years due to uncontrolled breeding, culminating in the current situation. Without the financial resources to spay and neuter, provide proper veterinary care, or contain the dogs, the living conditions declined significantly. Many of the dogs suffered from skin infections, untreated leg injuries, fur loss, snake bite wounds, dental disease, pregnancy, ear infections, anemia, and internal and external parasites. One dog was giving birth to a litter of puppies on a pile of trash when rescuers arrived and delivered 8 puppies. The dogs ran loose, with a neighbor reportedly luring some onto his property and shooting them to death, and others being hit by cars on a nearby road.

“Every contribution, whether it’s time or resources, makes a significant difference in the lives of these animals,” said ARC’s Executive Director, Tim Woodward. “We urge the community to get involved, whether through donations, volunteering, or simply spreading the word.”

Planning for this rescue, dubbed Operation Savannah Saves, began when the Hardin County Animal Shelter reached out for assistance. ARC swiftly assembled a field team to respond. All the dogs were transported from the property to ARC’s Rescue Center in Gallatin, Tennessee, about 40 minutes east of Nashville, where they are receiving thorough veterinary exams, appropriate vaccinations, and necessary medical treatments. Once each animal is ready, they will be matched and transported to trusted shelter and rescue partner organizations that will ultimately adopt them into loving homes.

The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
