350 dogs look for new homes at adoption event in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Hundreds of dogs had the opportunity to find a new home Saturday at Super Dog Adoption Day in Providence.

The event at the WaterFire Arts Center had 350 dogs ready for a new start.

Louise Anderson-Nicolosi is the founder of Always Adopt, the organization behind the effort.

“Some of these dogs have come from a very poor background, they were not very well,” she said. “But by the time they get here the rescue has nurtured them, they’ve had all their veterinary stuff done, they’ve all been fixed. So they’re basically healthy and good to go.”

More than 10 rescues and shelters from around the state and beyond gathered to help at the event, which went from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Organizers with Always Adopt have hosted over 20 adoption days since 2013, with the next one scheduled for the Fall.

Nicolosi offered some words of encouragement to anyone that might be interested in adoption.

“Just come with an open heart,” she said. “You see it all the time, people come wanting a little dog and they go out with a St. Bernard.”

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
