3 Mobile County residents face animal cruelty charges after dogs found dead

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Three Mobile County residents have been charged with animal cruelty related to the discovery of four dead dogs in February.

Police said the dogs had been locked in wire kennels without food and water.

A judge today appointing lawyers for Joyce Phillips and Phillis Williams, the two women who prosecutors allege were responsible for the dogs’ care. The owner of the dogs, Donald Marrero, also faces animal cruelty charges.

A preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 22.
