3 aggressive dogs die after attacking man and his dog near Sisters, DCSO says

Three aggressive dogs who attacked a man and his dog near Sisters died due to their injuries after the man defended himself, the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office said Friday. The attacking dogs’ owner was cited.

The attack happened around 11:40 a.m. Thursday. on U.S. Forest Service land — USFS Road 1505/430 Spur.

Lt. Chad Davis said the dogs, living in a nearby homeless camp, attacked the Sisters man, 44, and his dog after they exited their vehicle. The victim used a knife to defend himself.

Two of the dogs died at the scene. The third was later euthanized due to its injuries.

The man and his dog had minor puncture wounds.

Davis said the attacking dogs’ owner, identified as Denise Peiffer, 56, of Sisters, was cited for three counts of Animal at Large and Animal Nuisance.

Deputies also received reports of past aggressive dog incidents in the area, Davis said.
