BOCA RATON, Fla. (CBS12) — Twenty dogs were rescued from dire hoarding situations in rural Arkansas and brought to Boca Raton for a second chance at life.
Tri-County Animal Rescue welcomed the 20 dogs — part of a larger group of 80 saved by Animal Rescue Corps (ARC) — at the rescue headquarters on Thursday night after a long journey.
The non-profit said the rescues, all surrendered by their owners, were found in appalling conditions. Among them are two labradors with their newborn puppies, chihuahuas suffering from severe skin issues, and a female dog believed to be pregnant.
Photos provided by the rescue show the poor conditions the dogs were found in. Trash littering a backyard and dozens of dogs with health issues.
After Tri-County Animal Rescue committed to taking in the dogs, ARC transported them nearly 10 hours to Ocala. From there, the Tri-County team picked them up and em”barked” on the final five-hour leg to Boca Raton.

The next steps for these animals begin Monday, as they undergo evaluations by the Tri-County Animal Rescue’s medical team. The dogs are malnourished, suffering from skin infections, and are understandably scared and confused.
