2 people displaced, 2 dogs killed in house fire in Ludowici

LUDOWICI, Ga. (WTOC) – Two people were displaced and two dogs died after an early morning fire in Ludowici.

The Long County Fire Department was dispatched to a single-wide mobile home in the 100 block of Zip Lane, SW just after 1:30 a.m. Saturday.

Officials say when firefighters arrived on scene, 40 percent of the home was involved in heavy smoke and flames.

Long County Fire Department Chief Chris Moss says once the fire was extinguished, firefighters discovered two deceased dogs.

The occupants of the home were not home at the time.

Long State Prison, Walthourville Fire Department, Long County Sheriff’s Office, and the Ludowici Police Department responded to the call.

The Red Cross has been notified.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
