People Magazine finally came out with an article that interests me; the official dogs of each state. Actually, according to them, only 13 states out of 50 were granted a state dog, and New Hampshire and Massachusetts made the cut!
Let’s start with New Hampshire. Have you ever heard of a Chinook? Well it’s adorable and it’s been the breed of New Hampshire since 2009. According to NH.gov, this pup god his glorious title from a group of middle schooler’s in Bedford.
Onto Massachusetts’s state dog breed. I was in zero way shocked that the Mass state dog I officially the Boston Terrier. Surprise, surprise it’s in the name. But where did it come from? Well according to Boston.com, this good boy had been Boston University’s mascot all the way back in 1922 where he was then made official by the state in 1979.
Obviously I’m over here trying to decide what the official dog breed of Maine would be if we could choose it,so here we go. The opinion you didn’t ask for. I see so many doodles lately walking around in Scarborough. In Portland I tend to see a lot of labs or golden retrievers. Believe it or not at the dog park my pup and I go to on Forest Ave, we see a lot of huskies too. Overall, I’m gonna say retrievers or doodles are Maine’s state dog. Feel free to fight me in the comment section about it too :).
