
A baby girl is dead after officials say she was attacked by a dog in Jackson County, Indiana.According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, they got a call just after noon Thursday about a dog attack in the 1800 block south of CR 100 E.The mother said a dog had attacked her 2-month-old daughter. Brownstown Fire Department members arrived minutes later and began providing CPR to the infant. The infant was loaded into a Jackson County police vehicle to meet an ambulance at the sheriff’s department, a predetermined landing zone for medical helicopters.During the exchange of the infant from the police vehicle to the ambulance, it was decided to take her by ambulance to Schneck Medical Center, since the air ambulance had not taken off yet. Officials said first responders and Jackson County EMS continued providing CPR during transport.A short time after arriving at Schneck, officials said the infant died. The incident is under investigation by Jackson County detectives and is being led by Det. Clint Burcham. The dog, a pit bull, is currently being held at the Jackson County K-9 Control Center.
