VAN BUREN COUNTY, MI – Two people escaped before fire engulfed their mobile home and spread to another home under construction.
Two dogs were killed.
The fire was reported around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, at 48065 38th Avenue in Van Buren County’s Arlington Township.

Bangor Community Fire Department responded and requested mutual aid from Paw Paw, Columbia Township and South Haven Area Emergency Services (SHAES) firefighters.
When firefighters arrived, both the mobile home and adjacent home under construction were engulfed in flames.
Both structures were destroyed.
The two occupants safely escaped when they heard crackling noises and smelled smoke. They went to a neighbor’s house to call for help.
Firefighters shuttled water to the scene.
