MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (FOX26) — Two dogs were both found shot in the head in Merced County.
The organization ‘New Beginnings for Merced County Animals’ first shared a post about the first dog that was found shot in the eye and shoulder with a pellet gun.
The 8-month-old female Chihuahua mix had to have her eye removed after it was found to be completely ruptured.
A 2nd bullet that tore through her tiny body was located in her shoulder, causing additional trauma, but tragically, the pellet in her shoulder remains deeply embedded in the muscle tissue of her head, too deep to remove at this time.
New Beginnings says the small dog is still gentle and full of love, despite what she has gone through.
A couple days later another dog was found shot twice in the head.
The Great Pyrenees named Grace was found with a bullet in her skull and bleeding out.
The wound in her head was so large that it could not be closed, so the dog will need to stay in the hospital for two weeks where she will be continuously monitored.
We cannot stand by and stay silent while someone continues to shoot dogs and leave them to suffer a horrific death. This cruelty must be stopped, and we need your help to give her a fighting chance.
Every donation, no matter how small, will make a difference in her road to recovery.
All donations can be sent via Facebook, Venmo or you can donate directly to Valley Animal Hospital in Merced on behalf of New Beginnings.
