CLINTON, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – The South Carolina Department of Public Health (DPH) confirmed a raccoon tested positive for rabies in Laurens County and two dogs were exposed.
According to DPH officials, the raccoon was found near Malone Drive and Shady Grove Church Road in Clinton.
The raccoon was taken to the DPH lab for testing on December 30, 2024. The two dogs were quarantined as required in the South Carolina Rabies Control Act.
Anyone who believes they have been exposed to a rabid animal or their pet has been exposed, should call DPH’s Greenwood office at 864-942-3600 during normal business hours Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
