LOCKPORT, N.Y. — Two dogs died after a fire rolled through a Lockport home on Sunday evening.

The City of Lockport Fire Department was called to 76 Erie St. around 5:10 p.m. Sunday, after a report of a fire with smoke coming from the second floor of the house.

No flames were immediately visible upon arrival, but crews found it as they moved into a first-floor kitchen. A heavy fire was also found “directly above the area of the kitchen, where it had burned through the floor,” Lockport Fire said.

Roughly 3,900 gallons of water were used to extinguish the fire. Fire officials said damage was kept to the rear portion of the building, though both floors and the attic space of that area were impacted.

The fire was brought under control within 90 minutes.

The people who lived there were not home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. However, two family dogs died “as a result of the heavy smoke throughout the home,” Lockport Fire said.

The fire caused an estimated $40,000 in damage. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
