2 dogs dead after extension cord failure starts home fire

BURLINGTON, Iowa (KWQC) – Two dogs died inside a home after officials say an extension cord failed causing a fire.

According to the Burlington Fire Department, at 6:40 p.m. crews arrived to the 600 block of Hedge Avenue for a house fire.

When crews arrived they saw the first floor of the home engulfed in flames. Officials said crews got the fire until control quickly.

Two dogs were found dead inside the home but officials said no people were hurt.

Officials said the fire was caused by the failure of an extension cord and is accidental.
