HUNTINGBURG, Ind. (WFIE) – Two people are dead after a suspected dog attack Monday afternoon in Huntingburg.
That’s according to Dubois County Coroner Katie Schuck, who says one of the deaths was due to the dog attack, but the cause of the second death appears to be undetermined.
The Huntingburg Police Department says around 3:30 p.m. EST, they were called to the 100 block of N. Geiger Street for someone found inside a house with blood around them.
A short time later, officers arrived and found a woman and child unresponsive.
Despite life-saving efforts, officers say the child and woman passed away.
Police say all dogs that were inside the home have been removed.
HPD do not suspect any foul play nor have any concerns to public safety.
“Our condolences are with the family and friends of this very tragic event,” said Chief of Police Brad Kramer in a press release.
Officials say they are waiting for the official cause of death to be determined during autopsies on Wednesday.
The names of the victims have not been released. We’re working to learn more.
