17-year-old arrested for shooting, killing dog, BCSO says

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said it arrested a 17-year-old boy on Wednesday in connection with a dog’s death.

Deputies said they arrested Michael Christopher George after they obtained video footage of him dragging a leashed dog behind his motorcycle on a gravel road.

“Due to the speed George was driving the motorcycle, the innocent dog could not keep up,” the sheriff’s office said in a social media post.

Authorities said witnesses recorded the incident. BCSO said the sound of multiple gunshots was also heard in the video.

When questioned, George told deputies he had to shoot the dog because it bit his sibling.

The sheriff’s office said George attempted to cover up his actions by saying he buried the dog in the woods.

Investigators said George’s story changed several times during questioning before he later admitted to shooting the dog.

According to Bexar County court records, George was charged with animal cruelty, which is a third-degree felony.

George was released from the Bexar County Adult Detention Center on bond Thursday, jail records show.
