16 dogs die in Brooklin house fire, community fundraising for the family

BROOKLIN, Maine (WVII) — A Maine community is coming together for a Brooklin family who suffered devastating losses due to a house fire. The family lost 16 dogs in that fire.

Fire officials say the blaze was challenging and required multiple crews. It started Friday, and again on Saturday, when it flared up again.

One neighbor said her immediate thoughts are on how she can help the family.

“I think that was everyone’s overall consensus. How can we help? It’s really heartwarming to see that side of town especially this time of year,” said Heather Candage, the clerk and tax collector for the town of Brooklin

The fire department has set up a place for online donations, and a family friend started a GoFundMe, which has over 350 donations.

A café in town will also be hosting a community dinner with all the proceeds going toward the family.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
