Members of the SPCA of Wake County in North Carolina, and Raleigh Animal Control rescued 101 dogs from an alleged puppy mill last week.

They were immediately removed from the property and given medical treatment, as well as some much-needed grooming, the SPCA said.

“Egregious conditions”

Dig deeper:

The SPCA and animal rescue arrived within an hour of receiving a complaint about chickens living in poor conditions on the property on June 5, according to the nonprofit’s Facebook post.

The dogs were being housed in “egregious conditions” and were surrounded by their own waste.

Some of the dogs were packed five or six to one cage that were stacked on top of one another from the floor to the ceiling.

There were other dogs that were not caged but still put in cramped quarters.

Additionally, there were numerous dogs that were nursing young puppies.

What’s next:

After some tender, loving care, some of the dogs were already being taken to their forever homes, while others were continuing their care as they still had puppies to nurse and being observed by veterinary staff.

What breed of dogs were rescued?

There were several types of dog breeds among the rescued pups including Pomeranians, Yorkshire terriers, and “doodle” mixes, according to a local news report.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
