CRYSTAL RIVER, Fla. – A mobile home in a Crystal River community was destroyed by a fire, killing one person and a dog on Saturday morning, according to Citrus County Fire Rescue.
Crews arrived at the mobile home off of N Suncoast Blvd. Investigators say they thought somebody was still inside the home since a car was in the driveway.
The intensity of the fire caused a power line to collapse and contact a hose line, causing an electrical hazard.

During the first search efforts, only the dog was discovered. The victim’s body was later located in a closet within the main fire room.
CCFR sent out a reminder about smoke detector safety after this tragic incident.

The Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
